The Cumberland Community Improvement District (CID), Georgia's first CID, is a public-private assessment district in northwest Atlanta. Faced with the upcoming opening of the new Braves stadium, construction, and road works, the local community was growing frustrated with the increase of traffic and the changing landscape of Cumberland. Cumberland CID decided to use social media to engage in the community, informing them in advance of any delays due to construction while reinforcing the importance and value that these improvements have and will make in future.
The approach: to create a 6-month social media strategy that will increase followers, engage the community and keep them up-to-date with news and developments around the opening of the new Braves stadium. By analyzing Cumberland CID's existing social media and other local community media (competitors) we will (a) create a strategy to counter-act the less positive content that is being written and (b) streamline their social media platforms by segmenting each platform with a new mission and purpose.
The result: Through community outreach and social media campaigns, Cumberland CID will showcase the best of Cumberland by partnering with other community organizations including parks and recreations, support and participate local events and reinforce the importance of the new development. A 6-month social media calendar was created with ready-to-activate campaigns and a strategic plan allowing Cumberland CID to implement and manage the campaigns internally.
